Remote sensing techniques, data processing, and applications in environmental and urban contexts form the backbone of modern geospatial analysis. Techniques include passive sensing, which relies on natural energy sources like sunlight, and active sensing, where instruments such as radar or LiDAR emit their own signals to measure reflections. Once data is collected, it undergoes processing steps such as image enhancement, classification, and integration with geographic information systems (GIS) to extract meaningful patterns. These processed datasets are then applied in diverse contexts: monitoring deforestation, tracking urban sprawl, assessing air and water quality, mapping disaster impacts, and supporting sustainable city planning. In environmental studies, remote sensing helps evaluate ecosystem health and climate change effects, while in urban contexts it aids in infrastructure management, traffic analysis, and smart city development. Together, these techniques and applications provide powerful insights that guide decision-making for both environmental conservation and urban growth.
