Foundations of Remote Sensing Systems focus on the principles and technologies that allow us to observe and analyze the Earth and its environment from a distance using sensors mounted on satellites, aircraft, or drones. These systems rely on the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and surface materials, capturing data across different spectral bands to reveal information invisible to the human eye. Key components include the electromagnetic spectrum, sensor types (active and passive), platforms for data collection, and data processing techniques. Together, they provide critical insights for applications such as environmental monitoring, agriculture, urban planning, and disaster management, making remote sensing a cornerstone of modern Earth observation science.
