Analyzing direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) circuits involves studying how electrical energy flows, behaves, and is controlled under different conditions. In DC circuits, current flows in a constant direction with steady voltage levels, making analysis relatively straightforward using laws such as Ohm’s Law, Kirchhoff’s Voltage and Current Laws, and basic network theorems. In contrast, AC circuits involve current and voltage that vary periodically over time, often in sinusoidal form, requiring more advanced techniques such as phasor representation, impedance analysis, and the use of complex numbers to account for resistance, inductance, and capacitance. Understanding both types of circuits is essential for designing and operating electrical systems, as DC is commonly used in electronic devices and batteries, while AC is widely used for power generation and transmission due to its efficiency over long distances.
