Biogeography and Phylogenetic Relationships of Fishes involve the study of the geographical distribution of fish species across different aquatic environments and the evolutionary connections among them. Biogeography examines how factors such as climate, geological events, habitat conditions, migration, and ecological interactions influence the distribution and diversity of fishes in freshwater, brackish, and marine ecosystems around the world. Phylogenetic relationships, on the other hand, focus on tracing the evolutionary history of fish species using morphological, genetic, and molecular evidence to determine their common ancestry and patterns of divergence over time. Understanding these relationships helps scientists explain fish diversity, evolutionary adaptations, speciation processes, and distribution patterns, while providing valuable information for fisheries management, biodiversity conservation, aquaculture development, and the sustainable use of aquatic resources.
