Diversity of Fishes and Principles of Systematics is the study of the wide variety of fish species and the scientific methods used to classify and understand their relationships. Fishes are among the most diverse groups of vertebrates, inhabiting freshwater, marine, and brackish environments, with thousands of species exhibiting different forms, behaviors, and ecological adaptations. Systematics provides the framework for identifying, naming, and classifying these organisms based on their evolutionary history, anatomical features, genetic characteristics, and ecological roles. The principles of systematics help scientists organize fish species into hierarchical categories such as classes, orders, families, genera, and species, thereby improving communication, research, conservation, and the sustainable management of aquatic resources.
