Introduction to Photogrammetry is the science and technology of obtaining accurate measurements, maps, and three-dimensional information about objects, terrain, and environments from photographs or digital images. It involves the use of aerial, satellite, drone, or ground-based imagery to determine the size, shape, position, and elevation of physical features without direct contact. Photogrammetry is widely used in surveying, engineering, construction, environmental monitoring, urban planning, and resource management because it provides efficient, accurate, and cost-effective data collection over large areas. Understanding the principles of photogrammetry helps engineers and surveyors create detailed maps, digital terrain models, and spatial datasets that support planning, design, and decision-making in various infrastructure and development projects.
