Polarization in the modern world refers to the growing division of societies into opposing groups with sharply contrasting viewpoints, often in areas such as politics, economics, culture, and ideology. This phenomenon is driven by factors like globalization, technological change, social media influence, and economic inequality, which can amplify differences and reduce common ground. As people increasingly align with like-minded groups, dialogue between opposing sides becomes more limited, leading to heightened tensions and reduced social cohesion. Polarization can affect governance, decision-making, and stability, as deeply divided societies may struggle to reach consensus or address shared challenges effectively.
