Oil spillage, pollution delineation, and environmental mapping are closely related concepts in environmental management that focus on identifying, assessing, and mitigating the impact of contaminants on ecosystems. Oil spillage refers to the release of petroleum products into the environment, particularly water bodies and land, leading to severe ecological damage, loss of biodiversity, and health risks for humans and wildlife. Pollution delineation involves the precise identification and mapping of the extent, boundaries, and concentration of pollutants in affected areas, using tools such as field surveys, remote sensing, and geographic information systems (GIS). Environmental mapping supports this process by providing spatial representations of impacted regions, enabling better visualization, monitoring, and decision-making for remediation efforts. Together, these approaches help authorities and stakeholders understand the scale of environmental damage, plan effective clean-up strategies, and implement preventive measures to reduce future occurrences.
