Foundations of climatology and the tropics explore the scientific principles behind Earth’s climate system, focusing on how atmospheric processes, solar radiation, ocean currents, and geographical features interact to shape weather and long-term climate patterns. Climatology provides the framework for understanding global circulation, seasonal variations, and the role of greenhouse gases, while the tropics—regions near the equator—are studied for their unique climatic conditions such as high temperatures, abundant rainfall, and distinct wet and dry seasons. These areas are crucial because they influence global climate through phenomena like monsoons, El Niño, and tropical cyclones, making them central to both environmental studies and human livelihoods.
