Sampling methods and spatial analysis are vital techniques in geographic research that ensure data is collected systematically and interpreted meaningfully across space. Sampling methods involve selecting representative subsets of data from larger populations, using approaches such as random, systematic, stratified, or cluster sampling to reduce bias and improve accuracy. These methods allow geographers to study phenomena without needing to measure every unit in a region. On the other hand, spatial analysis focuses on examining the arrangement, relationships, and patterns of geographic data across space, using tools like Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial statistics, and mapping techniques. Together, they enable researchers to identify trends, test hypotheses, and model interactions between human and physical environments—supporting applications in urban planning, environmental management, disaster risk assessment, and resource allocation.
