This introductory series explores the meaning, scope, principles, determinants, and analytical patterns of political behaviour within the scientific study of politics. Students will examine what drives individuals and groups to act politically — including psychological, social, cultural, and institutional factors — and how political scientists systematically study and interpret these behaviours. It establishes the conceptual and theoretical foundation for understanding why people engage with politics in the ways they do, setting the stage for deeper analysis in subsequent series.
This lecture is part of POL 304 Political Behaviour in the Political Science department. The course has 16 recorded lectures across 8 series, all free to watch. Read or download the POL 304 lecture note to study alongside the video.
