Arabic rhetoric (البلاغة العربية) is the study of effective, beautiful, and appropriate expression in the Arabic language. Its development began in the pre-Islamic period, when poets demonstrated great skill in eloquence, imagery, and persuasive speech. With the revelation of the Qur’an, interest in Arabic language and eloquence increased greatly because scholars sought to understand its linguistic and rhetorical excellence.
