Potential Flow, Flow Nets, and Transient Phenomena are important concepts in fluid mechanics used to analyze and predict fluid behavior in engineering systems. Potential flow theory studies ideal fluid motion where viscosity and rotational effects are neglected, allowing complex flow patterns around objects to be modeled mathematically. Flow nets are graphical tools composed of streamlines and equipotential lines that help visualize fluid movement and calculate flow quantities, particularly in groundwater seepage and hydraulic engineering applications. Transient phenomena refer to time-dependent changes in fluid flow conditions, such as pressure surges, water hammer, and unsteady flow caused by sudden changes in system operation. Understanding these concepts enables engineers to design efficient hydraulic structures, predict flow behavior accurately, and ensure the safe and reliable operation of fluid transport and control systems.
