Fundamentals of Incompressible Viscous Flow involve the study of fluid motion in which the fluid density remains constant (incompressible) and internal friction between fluid layers (viscosity) significantly affects the flow behavior. This area of fluid mechanics examines how forces, pressure, velocity, and shear stresses influence the movement of liquids and slow-moving gases through pipes, channels, and around solid objects. Key concepts include continuity, momentum conservation, laminar and turbulent flow, boundary layers, and the Navier-Stokes equations. Understanding incompressible viscous flow is essential in engineering applications such as hydraulic systems, water distribution networks, lubrication, chemical processing, and the design of aircraft, ships, and industrial equipment.
