Local, Regional, and Long-Distance Trade Networks is a course that examines the systems of exchange that connect communities within and beyond their immediate environments. It explores how local trade supports everyday economic activities, how regional markets facilitate the movement of goods and services across wider areas, and how long-distance trade links distant societies through complex networks. The course also highlights the roles of traders, transportation systems, and trade routes, as well as the impact of these networks on cultural exchange, economic integration, and the development of societies over time.
This lecture is part of HIS202 Economic History of Nigeria in the 19th Century in the History and International Studies department. The course has 22 recorded lectures across 10 series, all free to watch. Read or download the HIS202 lecture note to study alongside the video.
