Indigenous Case Studies in Conflict Resolution explores real-life examples of how traditional communities use indigenous knowledge systems, cultural practices, and customary institutions to prevent, manage, and resolve conflicts. It examines methods such as mediation by elders, restorative justice, dialogue, reconciliation rituals, and community-based decision-making, highlighting their effectiveness in promoting peace, social harmony, and long-term stability. The topic emphasizes the relevance of these culturally grounded approaches as alternatives or complements to formal legal systems in addressing conflicts. Course objectives include enabling learners to understand the principles and practices of indigenous conflict resolution, analyze selected case studies from different communities, appreciate the strengths and limitations of traditional methods, and develop the ability to apply indigenous strategies to contemporary conflict management and peacebuilding efforts.
