This course focuses on the design of sound research methodologies and the ethical collection of data in linguistic research. Participants will explore the principles and procedures involved in selecting appropriate research designs, developing data collection instruments, and ensuring methodological rigor in both qualitative and quantitative studies. The course examines various methods of linguistic data collection, including interviews, questionnaires, observations, experiments, corpus-based approaches, and fieldwork techniques.
Special emphasis is placed on ethical considerations in research, including informed consent, confidentiality, participant rights, data protection, cultural sensitivity, and responsible handling of research data. Participants will learn how to address ethical challenges that may arise during the research process while maintaining professional and academic standards.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to design effective research methodologies, collect reliable and valid linguistic data, and conduct research in accordance with established ethical guidelines and best practices in the field of linguistics.
