This course focuses on the essential skills required to develop effective research proposals and formulate clear, relevant, and researchable questions in linguistics. Students will learn how to identify significant research problems, review existing literature, establish research gaps, and justify the importance of their proposed studies.
The course provides practical guidance on structuring a research proposal, including the introduction, statement of the problem, aims and objectives, research questions, hypotheses, methodology, and expected outcomes. Special attention is given to the principles of framing precise and achievable research questions that align with the study's objectives and methodological approach.
Through hands-on exercises and critical analysis of sample proposals, learners will develop the ability to design compelling research proposals that meet academic and professional standards. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to formulate strong research questions and prepare well-organized proposals for linguistic research projects.
This lecture is part of LIN 410 PROJECT/LONG ESSAY in the Linguistics department. The course has 42 recorded lectures across 10 series, all free to watch. Read or download the LIN 410 lecture note to study alongside the video.
