The history of agricultural development traces the evolution of farming from traditional subsistence practices to modern, technology-driven systems, shaped by innovations such as irrigation, mechanization, and improved crop varieties. Over time, institutions including governments, research organizations, cooperatives, and international agencies have played key roles in supporting agricultural growth by creating policies, providing extension services, funding research, and ensuring food security and rural development. The course aims to provide students with an understanding of how agriculture has developed over time and the important roles institutions play in promoting sustainable agricultural practices, improving productivity, and addressing challenges such as food shortages, climate change, and rural poverty.
