This course focuses on the identification, analysis, and classification of morphemes, the smallest meaningful units in language. Students will learn how to recognize different types of morphemes and examine their roles in word formation and meaning construction. The course covers free and bound morphemes, roots, stems, affixes, inflectional and derivational morphemes, as well as the principles used in morphological analysis. Emphasis is placed on developing practical skills in segmenting words into their constituent morphemes and classifying them according to their grammatical and semantic functions. Through examples drawn from various languages, learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of how morphemes contribute to vocabulary development, grammatical structure, and effective communication.
