Syntax, semantics, and language features are core elements that define how a programming language works and how it is used to express ideas in code. Syntax refers to the formal rules and structure that determine how symbols, keywords, and expressions must be written correctly, much like grammar in natural languages. Semantics deals with the meaning behind those syntactically correct statements—what the code actually does when executed. Meanwhile, language features encompass the built-in capabilities and constructs of a programming language, such as data types, control structures, functions, object-oriented concepts, and memory management mechanisms, which provide programmers with tools to design efficient and expressive solutions. Together, these components ensure that code is both correctly structured and meaningful, enabling effective communication between programmers and computers.
