This series offers an academic exploration of how historical domination and modern mechanisms of control continue to shape global inequalities, development patterns, and international relations. Students will examine the origins and structures of European colonialism, its devastating impact on Africa and the Global South, and how neo-colonial practices through trade agreements, foreign aid, multinational corporations, and international institutions perpetuate dependency and underdevelopment in formerly colonized nations. It provides a critical lens for understanding the deep historical roots of contemporary global inequality.
