Communication is the process of sending, receiving, and interpreting information, ideas, feelings, or messages between two or more people. Communication may be verbal (using words) or non-verbal (using gestures, facial expressions, signs, body movements, etc.).
Sound Patterns and Word Classes explores the fundamental aspects of language structure by examining how speech sounds are organized and how words are classified according to their grammatical functions. It focuses on sound patterns such as phonemes, syllables, stress, intonation, and other phonological features that contribute to meaning and communication, while also analyzing word classes such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. The topic highlights the relationship between sound systems and grammatical categories in language use, helping learners understand how words and sounds function together to create meaningful communication. Course objectives include enabling learners to understand the basic principles of phonology and word classification, identify and analyze sound patterns in language, distinguish among different word classes and their functions, and develop the skills needed for effective linguistic analysis and communication.
