Navy School Alumni Commission N25 Million Renovated Hostel in Lagos

The alumni of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS), Ojo, Lagos, have commissioned a newly renovated hostel valued at ₦25 million as part of efforts to improve students' welfare and strengthen the school's infrastructure. The project, led by the school's Class of 1989 in collaboration with other alumni under the NNSS Ojo Renovation Team, was officially inaugurated by the Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Mustapha. The ceremony coincided with the school's 2025/2026 Passing Out Parade and graduation activities. Speaking at the event, Rear Admiral Mustapha praised the alumni for investing in the institution, describing the renovation as a significant contribution toward restoring the school's reputation for academic excellence and character development. He expressed optimism that the intervention would mark the beginning of broader infrastructure improvements across the school, encouraging continued collaboration between the institution and its former students. Coordinator of the NNSS Ojo Renovation Team, Mr. Nosa Ozigbo-Esere, said the project involved major structural rehabilitation of the hostel, including upgraded accommodation, improved sanitary facilities, new electrical installations, repainting and other essential renovations designed to provide students with a safer and more comfortable living environment. According to him, the initiative was inspired by the poor condition of the hostel facilities during one of his visits to the school. He explained that the experience motivated him to mobilise fellow alumni to contribute to the institution that played a key role in shaping their lives and careers. Ozigbo-Esere described the project as a long-term investment in the future of the students and encouraged younger alumni to remain committed to supporting their alma mater through similar development projects. The Commandant of Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Ojo, Captain Nkari Adeyemi, commended the alumni for their commitment to the school's growth, noting that the renovated hostel would significantly improve students' welfare and learning conditions. She also appealed to alumni from all graduating sets to continue supporting the institution through infrastructure development, scholarships, mentorship programmes and other initiatives that would sustain the school's tradition of excellence.
