KWASU Elevates 45 Staff to Professorial Cadre.

The Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has approved the promotion of 45 members of staff to the professorial cadre, following ratification at its 78th regular meeting held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. According to a statement issued Thursday, April 2, 2026, by the university's Acting Director of University Relations, Saeedat Aliyu, the approved promotions comprise 20 staff elevated to full professorship and 25 promoted to associate professorship, spanning several faculties. In the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Henry Olawale Sawyerr was elevated to full professor, specialising in Environmental Health Toxicology and Risk Management. The Faculty of Agriculture produced three new professors: Olayinka Jelil Yusuf (Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology), Kayode Ayantoye (Agricultural Development and Policy), and Isaac Ade Afe (Agronomy). The Faculty of Arts recorded four new professors: Tajudeen Yusuf (Arabic Linguistics), Saeedat Bolajoko Aliyu (Environment and Gender in African Studies), Reuben Kehinde Akano (African Literature and Cultural Studies), and Ayoola Oladunke Aransi (Yoruba Literature, Cultural and Gender Studies). Six new professors emerged from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology: Sikiru Ottan Abdulrahman (Materials Development, Mining Operations and Corrosion Phenomena), Kabiru Mustapha (Sustainable Composite Materials Development), Fadeyibi Adeshina (Post-Harvest Technology and Food Engineering), Adeniyi Ganiyu Adeogun (Water Resources and Environmental Engineering), Samson Odeyemi (Structural and Materials Engineering), and Lambe Mutalub Adesina (Electrical Power Systems, Control and Renewable Energy). In the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Shehu Usman Adam (Environmental Economics) and Zekeri Abu (Entrepreneurial Marketing and International Business) were promoted to full professor. The Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences saw four new professors: Adeyinka Elizabeth Ajiboye and Majekodunmi Rachael Adedayo (both Food/Industrial Microbiology), Lukman Bola Abdulrauf (Analytical and Environmental Chemistry), and Jimoh Ajadi (Mineral Exploration/Geochemistry). On the associate professorship promotions, the Faculty of Agriculture recorded Wasiu Awoyale (Food Processing and Storage Technology). The Faculty of Arts saw five new associate professors: Hakeem Olawale (Yoruba Literature and Cultural Studies), Michael Olanrewaju Agboola (Drama: Theory and Criticism), Bamidele Olusegun Fawenu (Old Testament Interpretation and Eco-theology), Adesina Abiodun Olubitan (African Christian Theology and Interaction of Religions), and Peter Olanrewaju Awojobi (Biblical Studies, Christian Theology and African Christianity). The Faculty of Education produced two new associate professors, Adedayo Adesokan (Learning Disability) and Joshua Sule Mamman (Accounting Education), while the Faculty of Engineering and Technology added Morakinyo Wasiu Kareem (Renewable Energy/Fluid Engineering) and Mutiu Akinpelu (Structural and Materials Engineering). In the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, three staff were elevated: Jumoke Falilat Ajao (Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence), Abdulsalam Olaniyi Sulaiman (Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence), and Akinbowale Nathaniel Babatunde (Artificial Intelligence and Information Security). The Faculty of Management and Social Sciences recorded five new associate professors: Nurudeen Bello Ahmed (General Management), Ismaila Yusuf (Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship), Lukman Adebayo-Oke Abdulrauf (Corporate and Development Finance), Ahmed Oluwatobi Adekunle (Energy and International Finance), and Musa Ilias Biala (Environment, Energy and Behavioural Economics). Rounding out the list, the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences produced four new associate professors: Damilola Temitope Ogundele (Analytical/Environmental Chemistry), Wahab Adesina Osunniran (Inorganic/Bio-inorganic Chemistry), Gabriel Babatunde Egbeyale (Numerical Analysis), and Risqot Ibrahim-Garba (Algebra).
