Katsina Extends Automatic Employment Scheme to First-Class Graduates Nationwide

The Katsina State Government has expanded its automatic employment initiative to include indigenes of the state who graduate with first-class degrees from higher institutions across Nigeria. Governor Dikko Radda announced the extension during the grand finale and award presentation of the maiden Katsina State Students’ Week held at Bayero University, Kano. The governor said the policy was introduced to attract talented graduates into the state civil service and build a more efficient and productive workforce capable of improving public service delivery. According to Radda, the initiative initially covered first-class graduates from institutions within Katsina State but has now been extended to all Katsina indigenes studying in universities and other higher institutions nationwide. “When I assumed office, I introduced automatic employment for students who graduated with first-class degrees. Today, I am pleased to expand the offer to all Katsina State students across the country who graduate with first-class degrees,” he said. The governor explained that recruiting highly skilled graduates into government service would strengthen the capacity of the civil service and position it among the best-performing public institutions in Nigeria. He expressed confidence that the programme would help create a generation of professionals who would contribute significantly to the development of Katsina State over the coming years. Radda also highlighted other education-focused initiatives of his administration, including the settlement of outstanding scholarship obligations, increased bursary allowances and efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children in the state. He stated that education remained a major priority of the government, noting that the administration had recruited more than 10,000 teachers, constructed new schools and renovated existing educational facilities. The governor encouraged students to continue pursuing academic excellence and developing skills that would enable them to contribute positively to society. The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Haruna Musa-Muhammad, described Governor Radda as a leader committed to supporting students and improving education. He commended the state government’s scholarship reforms and expressed willingness to partner with Katsina in advancing educational development. The Katsina State Students’ Week, organised to promote academic excellence, cultural exchange and talent discovery, brought together students from higher institutions across several northern states. Students who excelled in academic competitions, sporting activities and cultural displays were recognised with various awards.
