Aquinas College Honours 35 Distinguished Alumni at 75th Anniversary Celebration

The Aquinas College Akure Old Students' Association (ACAOSA) has recognised 35 distinguished alumni for their exceptional contributions to society, the growth of the college and the activities of the alumni body during the school's 75th anniversary celebration. The awards were presented at the grand finale of the anniversary events, which featured several activities aimed at celebrating the institution's rich history and achievements. Among those honoured were former Vice President of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Dr. Oyedokun Abiodun; ACAOSA Worldwide President, Sola Adewunmi; Chairman of the 75th Anniversary Central Planning Committee, Prof. Segun Ojo; Co-Chairman of the committee, Col. Wilson Alade (Rtd.); and Felix Fadeni. Other recipients included Major General Adeyemi Adetayo (Rtd.), David Fapohunda, Oluwalade Temiloluwa, Damilola Atolusi, Dr. Olaide Afelumo, Francis Oladunmoye, Charles Osuntuyi, Dr. Akinwunmi Odumankinde and football coach Adeoye Gbangba, among others. Speaking after receiving his award, Dr. Abiodun expressed appreciation for the recognition and called for stronger collaboration between the alumni association and the college's management to accelerate the institution's development. He stressed that closer cooperation would help improve the school's infrastructure, strengthen academic standards and position the institution to meet modern educational demands. He also encouraged fellow alumni to invest in initiatives that would positively impact current and future students. The week-long anniversary programme featured the commissioning of legacy projects, essay and history competitions, an inter-school debate, career guidance and mentorship sessions, alumni engagement activities, as well as a novelty football match. The celebration highlighted Aquinas College's 75-year legacy while reaffirming the commitment of its alumni to supporting the institution's continued growth and development.
