Theories, contexts, and interpretations of history refer to the different ways historians analyze and explain past events by applying various frameworks, perspectives, and surrounding circumstances. Historical theories provide guiding principles or models—such as Marxism, feminism, or structuralism—that shape how events are understood, while context involves examining the social, political, economic, and cultural conditions in which those events occurred. Interpretation is the process through which historians construct meaning from available evidence, often leading to differing conclusions about the same event. Together, these elements highlight that history is not just a record of facts, but a thoughtful and critical analysis of the past shaped by perspectives, evidence, and changing approaches over time.
