Geothermal energy is a renewable source of power that harnesses the Earth’s internal heat, which originates from the planet’s formation and the continuous decay of radioactive elements deep within its core. This heat naturally escapes to the surface through phenomena such as volcanoes, hot springs, and geysers, but it can also be tapped directly for human use. By drilling into geothermal reservoirs, we can access steam and hot water to generate electricity or provide direct heating. Unlike fossil fuels, geothermal energy is sustainable, produces minimal greenhouse gas emissions, and offers a reliable supply since the Earth’s heat is virtually inexhaustible on a human timescale. As a clean energy option, it plays a vital role in reducing dependence on non-renewable resources and combating climate change.
