Simple Harmonic Motion, wave phenomena, and optics together form the foundation of classical physics, describing how systems oscillate, how energy propagates through space, and how light interacts with matter. Simple Harmonic Motion refers to periodic oscillations, such as a pendulum or a mass on a spring, governed by restoring forces proportional to displacement. These oscillations connect directly to wave phenomena, where vibrations generate traveling or standing waves that carry energy without transporting matter, seen in sound, water waves, and even electromagnetic radiation. Extending further, the principles of optics explore how light behaves as both a wave and a particle, explaining reflection, refraction, diffraction, and interference, which underpin technologies from lenses and microscopes to fiber optics and lasers. Together, these topics illustrate the deep unity of physical laws, showing how oscillations, waves, and light are interconnected manifestations of energy and motion.
