Human factors and error management in aircraft maintenance focus on understanding how human performance, behavior, and limitations influence safety and reliability in aviation operations. Maintenance tasks are complex, often performed under time pressure, environmental constraints, and with high responsibility, which makes them vulnerable to human error. Human factors address issues such as fatigue, communication, teamwork, training, and ergonomics to reduce mistakes and improve efficiency. Error management, meanwhile, involves identifying potential sources of error, implementing reporting systems, and applying strategies like the “just culture” approach, which encourages learning from mistakes rather than punishing them. Together, these practices aim to minimize risks, enhance safety, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards by fostering a proactive safety culture where errors are anticipated, detected, and mitigated before they compromise aircraft airworthiness.
