Biogeography
Biogeography is the scientific study of how plants, animals, and ecosystems are distributed across the Earth and how these patterns have developed over time. It explores the influence of physical factors such as climate, landforms, and soil, as well as biological processes like evolution, migration, and species interactions. By examining both historical and present-day distributions, biogeography helps explain why certain species are unique to specific regions, such as kangaroos in Australia or cacti in deserts. It also highlights the role of plate tectonics, glaciation, and human activity in shaping biodiversity. Ultimately, biogeography provides insight into the complex relationship between life and the environment, offering valuable knowledge for conservation and understanding global ecological change.
