The Foundation of Human and Physical Geography Series 1 introduces learners to the essential principles that shape our understanding of the Earth and its people. It explores the dual aspects of geography: the physical environment, which covers landforms, climate, soils, vegetation, and natural processes, and the human environment, which examines population, settlement, culture, economic activities, and the interaction between people and their surroundings. This foundation emphasizes how natural features influence human activities and how human actions, in turn, transform the physical landscape. By bridging these two dimensions, the series provides a holistic view of geography as both a science of the Earth’s systems and a study of human adaptation, development, and sustainability. It serves as a stepping stone for deeper exploration into geographical concepts, encouraging critical thinking about the relationship between nature and society.
