A Survey of Old World Archaeology is the study of the ancient civilizations, cultures, and human societies that developed across Europe, Asia, and Africa before the modern era. It examines the physical remains of past societies, including artifacts, monuments, settlements, tools, pottery, and burial sites, to reconstruct patterns of human development and cultural change. Old World archaeology explores major civilizations such as Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, the Indus Valley, and early Chinese states, highlighting their social structures, technological innovations, economic systems, religious beliefs, and interactions with neighboring cultures. Through archaeological evidence, researchers gain valuable insights into the origins of civilization, the evolution of human societies, and the historical foundations of the modern world.
