Hydrogeology
Hydrogeology is the branch of earth science that studies the occurrence, movement, distribution, and quality of groundwater within the Earth's subsurface. It combines principles of geology and hydrology to understand how water interacts with rocks, soils, and geologic formations. Hydrogeologists investigate aquifers, groundwater recharge, flow patterns, and water storage to ensure the sustainable management and utilization of water resources. The field plays a crucial role in water supply development, environmental protection, irrigation, contamination assessment, and the remediation of polluted groundwater systems. By understanding groundwater behavior, hydrogeology contributes significantly to solving water-related challenges and supporting sustainable development.
