Important scholars include Sibawayh, who wrote Al-Kitab, and Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad, who contributed to Arabic grammar, phonetics, and lexicography. Traditional studies focused on Nahw (syntax), Sarf (morphology), phonetics, and rhetoric.
