Groundwater and Hydrogeology focus on the study of water that exists beneath the Earth's surface and the geological conditions that influence its occurrence, movement, and quality. Groundwater is stored in rock formations and soil layers known as aquifers, which act as natural reservoirs supplying water for domestic, agricultural, industrial, and environmental needs. Hydrogeology examines the interaction between groundwater and geological materials, including the processes of infiltration, recharge, flow, and discharge. Understanding groundwater and hydrogeology is essential for managing water resources, developing sustainable water supply systems, preventing contamination, and addressing challenges related to drought, population growth, and environmental conservation. This knowledge plays a critical role in civil engineering, environmental management, and the sustainable development of communities worldwide.
