Growth and Development in Biological Systems explores the processes through which living organisms increase in size, complexity, and functional capacity from early stages of life to maturity. It examines cellular activities such as cell division, differentiation, and specialization, as well as the genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors that regulate growth and developmental patterns in both plants and animals. The topic also highlights how organisms progress through distinct life stages and adapt to changing internal and external conditions. Course objectives include enabling learners to understand the concepts of growth and development, identify the biological mechanisms involved, analyze factors influencing developmental processes, and develop the ability to explain how organisms grow and mature within different biological systems.
