A Survey of New World Archaeology examines the archaeological study of the ancient cultures and civilizations that developed in the Americas before European contact. It explores the origins, growth, and achievements of major societies such as the Maya, Aztec, Inca, Olmec, and numerous Indigenous cultures of North, Central, and South America. Through the analysis of artifacts, architecture, settlements, burial sites, and environmental evidence, New World archaeology reconstructs the social, political, economic, and religious life of these societies. The field also investigates patterns of migration, cultural interaction, technological innovation, and adaptation to diverse environments, providing valuable insights into the rich and complex history of the peoples of the Americas.
